POTA For Beginners

POTA, Parks On The Air, is an amateur radio activity where operators activate parks and other operators try to contact them.

For a beginner, a simple setup can work well: a portable HF radio, battery, lightweight wire antenna and basic logging method.

Hunters should listen carefully, give their callsign clearly, exchange signal reports, and keep the contact short when the activator has a pileup.
